The hot spring water here is a natural water that contains a lot of sulfur. It is unusual among the spas that you can visit for a day in Japan, as it uses three kinds of spring water. The first kind flows into the big outdoor bath, the second supplies another outdoor bath and the third cascades into another bath. All these waters are distinctive. All the waters are heated in order to maintain a constant temperature, but all the water used is 100% pure unfiltered hot spring water.

This shop has been in the same family for five generations and the current female owner has created a sweet shop that is both tranquil and colorful. The idea to create the hot spring rice crackers that are a famous product of Iwamuro was thought of by the third- generation owner about 90 years ago, so this shop could be said to be the home of these crackers. There are a lot of sweets sold by this shop that can be highly recommended, but one of the most famous is the Gan no Ko (wild goose chick) which uses a yellow paste made of eggs wrapped inside a white fluffy bun. This sweet is inspired by the legend of the wild goose that healed its wound by bathing it in the hot spring. The egg manju (buns with a sweet filling) are also a popular souvenir.

After this experience learning about the intricacies of sake brewing, you will find the sake you taste at the end tastes completely different. Included among the different types of sake you can taste is the famous Takarayama Daiginjo (type of sake that is brewed by low temperature from white rice milled to 60%).
